Aboitiz Power Corp. captured the largest market share in the power grid, holding 21.3 percent of the 23,409-megawatt national installed capacity, according to a report from the Department of Energy.
The data was based on the 36th Status Report on Republic Act No. 9136, or Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001, covering November 2019 to April 2020.
San Miguel Corp. followed with 20.7 percent of installed capacity, while First Gen Corp. ranked third with 15 percent. Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. had an 11-percent market share.
SMC covered the biggest share in Luzon with 4,556 MW of total installed generating capacity, representing 28 percent of the 16,044 MW in the grid. Aboitiz Power followed with 3,401.7 MW, or 21 percent of the Luzon market.
Other generation companies in the list were First Gen with a total installed generating capacity of 2,518 MW, or 16 percent, and PSALM with 1,615.8 MW, or 10 percent. None of the market participants in Luzon exceeded the market share limitation of 30 percent.
