The German Club Manila and Solaire’s partnership has brought record-breaking feats for the annual 3-day Oktoberfest festivities over the past two years.

However, with the conditions brought about by the current pandemic, the government has issued directives that prohibit major events and mass gatherings from being held to safeguard the well-being of the public.

“In as much as we are looking forward to this event, we would like to announce that we are canceling this year’s Oktoberfest celebration. We respect and support the government’s directives on the restrictions on events and gatherings as the nation flattens the curve,” said Knut Becker, Solaire’s Vice President for Food & Beverage.

Oktoberfest is the flagship event of The German Club Manila. The Club, which was established in 1906, was set to celebrate its 82nd Oktoberfest this year.

“It was not an easy decision to cancel the Oktoberfest 2020, but we promise to come back in 2021 with the most authentic Oktoberfest in the Philippines,” said Tobias Rast, President of the German Club Manila.

“While we, at Solaire, are exercising the necessary measures that adhere to stricter standards on cleanliness and sanitation to ensure the safety and well-being of our guests and patrons, we remain committed to providing the excellent service we are known for. Until such time that we are able to hold the Oktoberfest celebration again, we will continue to assess the situation for possible alternatives,” Becker added.
