Llover, Concepcion promise explosive clash in Manila

Unbeaten bantamweight prospect Kenneth Llover and former two-division world champion Luis Concepcion have vowed to deliver fireworks when they square off today (Sunday), August 17, at Winford Resort and Casino Manila.

Meeting face-to-face for the first time in a pre-fight press conference, the 22-year-old Llover (14-0, 9 KOs) acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge ahead.

“This is a huge challenge. He is no joke,” said Llover. “I respect him because he’s a two-division world champion, while I’m still working toward my dream of becoming one. He’s a good opponent and a real test of how far I can go. I plan to win by knockout.”

Concepcion (40-11, 29 KOs), a battle-tested veteran from Panama, has spent the last two months in preparation for the non-title bout against the rising Filipino star. For him, victory will come down to more than just strength and skill.

“I’ve heard many things about my opponent, but it’s just going to be the two of us in the ring,” Concepcion said. “The more talented fighter will win. I respect Llover, but this is not only physical — it’s also mental. I am going to win.”

Event promoter Gerry Peñalosa, a former world champion himself, sees the matchup as a crucial step in Llover’s ascent.

“Being a two-division world champion is not a joke. This is a huge fight for Llover, but he has to face challenges like this if he wants to reach the top,” Peñalosa noted.

The bout, co-promoted by Gerrypens Promotions and Kameda Promotions and co-presented by Winford Resort and Casino Manila, promises a night of action that could shape the trajectory of Llover’s career.
