Viva Communications and MQuest Ventures have signed a joint venture agreement to produce entertainment content for Filipino audiences on various media platforms, including free-to-air television.
Starting in 2025, the collaboration will introduce several new entertainment shows on TV5, featuring prominent stars from Philippine showbiz. The joint venture aims to create television programs and other content for distribution both domestically and internationally across MediaQuest’s pay TV, over-the-top (OTT), and digital terrestrial television (DTT) platforms.
MediaQuest’s partnership with Viva dates back to the establishment of Sari Sari Network, Inc. in 2015, which has since produced over 800 hours of original content for Cignal TV’s Sari Sari Channel.
Over the past decade, the Sari Sari Channel has showcased top talents in Philippine entertainment, including Cristine Reyes, Julia Barretto, Ryza Cenon, Kiko Estrada, Marco Gumabao, Diego Loyzaga, Yassi Pressman, Heaven Peralejo, and the Muhlach family.
In 2018, Viva and MediaQuest collaborated with Epik Studios, a media company that specializes in stories rooted in Philippine folklore, mythology, and fantasy. Their recent project, the film Penduko, released in 2023, featured Matteo Guidicelli and earned six nominations at the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival, including Best Picture.
Both companies are now poised to build on their successes, emphasizing their commitment to delivering engaging content that highlights Filipino creativity and culture.
“We are grateful to Viva Communications for their continued trust over the years. This new venture allows us to showcase the best Filipino entertainment content on TV5,” said Jane Jimenez-Basas, President and CEO of MQuest Ventures.
“Together, we will continue to produce meaningful stories that resonate with our viewers here and around the world,” said Vic del Rosario Jr., Chairman and CEO of Viva Communications. “MediaQuest has been a wonderful partner. We look forward to strengthening our collaboration to cater to a much wider audience on TV5 and other MediaQuest platforms.”
TV5 President and CEO Guido R. Zaballero expressed gratitude to Viva, noting that the Cine Cinco sa Umaga block, featuring classics from Viva’s library, has been essential to their morning programming.
“We are excited to strengthen our partnership with Viva. Soon, we will reenergize our afternoon block with Face 2 Face: Harapan and Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa: Ang Bagong Yugto to continue captivating audiences during primetime,” Zaballero added.
