Olaso-Climaco’s Team Zamboanga file candidacy for 2025 midterm elections

Zamboanga City 1st District Representative Khymer Olaso and former City Mayor Beng Climaco filed their certificates of candidacy (CoC) as mayor and vice mayor, respectively, joined by the Team Zamboanga slate.

Team Zamboanga is also fielding Kaiser Olaso as its bet for representative of the 1st congressional district, and Jerry Perez for the 2nd congressional district.

The Olaso-Climaco-led Team Zamboanga will be challenging the slate led by the two incumbent Dalipe brothers, who have also filed their CoCs to exchange posts next year as mayor and 2nd district congressman.

Joining the Team Zamboanga slate as councilor-hopefuls are Dan Vicente, Jackie Lim, Atty. Mel Sadain, Mike Cinco, Joel Esteban, Atty. Vlad Jimenez, and Atty. Gian Enriquez for the 1st congressional district, and Hannah Nuno Albert Castillo Eddie Saavedra, Bong Simbajon, Fred Atilano, BG Guingona, Mary Joy Olaso and Cesar Itturalde for the 2nd district.

According to Team Zamboanga, their respective candidacies were inspired by the clamor of Zamboangeños for effective action from local chief officials. “They are looking for someone who can bring back peace and order, and address the gaps in social welfare, as well as fast-track the city’s development,” Team Zamboanga said in a statement.

Recent reports confirmed that Zamboangeños are airing their dissatisfaction with glaring inaction, and misplaced priorities, in the agenda of some local executives.

Team Zamboanga’s frontrunners expressed their aspirations to make the city safer for its constituents and ensure that the local government unit’s services match their needs.
