GMA Network has been recognized with 14 programs and personalities named National Winners at the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA).
GMA Integrated News secured the Best News/Current Affairs Program award for 24 Oras: Super Typhoon Carina Southwest Monsoon and received the Best Documentary Series award for Unang Balita: Ravaged by El Niño.
In the public affairs category, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho: If Looks Could Kill won Best Infotainment Program, while Reporter’s Notebook: Upuan ni Ipiw took home the Best Documentary Program award. Biyahe ni Drew: Let’s Go to Oriental Mindoro was awarded Best Lifestyle Program.
The film Firefly, produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, earned the Best Screenplay award for screenwriter Anj Atienza, who serves as Senior Assistant Vice President of GMA Public Affairs.
In the entertainment category, Michael V was named Best Actor in a Comedy Role for his work in Pepito Manaloto: Tuloy ang Kuwento, which also won Best Comedy Programme. Dingdong Dantes received the Best Entertainment Host award for Family Feud Philippines.
The Voice Generations won the Best Adaptation of an Existing Format (Non-Scripted), while the long-running program i-Bilib was named Best Children’s Programme. The drama anthology Magpakailanman: Sa Puso’t Isipan: The Cantillana Family Story was recognized as Best Single Drama/Telemovie/Anthology Episode.
The launch trailer of Pulang Araw was awarded Best Promo or Trailer.
Additionally, Sparkle artist Kokoy De Santos was recognized as Best Actor in a Leading Role for the film Your Mother’s Son.
The Asian Academy Creative Awards is considered one of the most prestigious accolades for creative excellence in the Asia Pacific region, honoring top talent from 17 nations. The national winners will represent the Philippines at the Grand Awards and Gala Final in Singapore in December.
