Maia Israel has been appointed as Area General Manager for Boracay Newcoast’s properties under Megaworld Hotels and Resorts, overseeing Belmont Hotel Boracay, Savoy Hotel Boracay, and the upcoming Chancellor Hotel Boracay Newcoast.
With responsibility for approximately 2,000 room keys, Israel’s leadership challenges traditional norms in a sector often dominated by men.
Her appointment was announced by Group General Manager Arturo Borcato, Jr., who praised Israel for her resilience and strategic acumen during her tenure at Belmont Hotel Boracay since 2022.
“Under her leadership, the property achieved positive net operating income through strategic sales efforts and operational cost reductions,” Borcato stated.
Israel, a Cebu native, is known for her leadership style that promotes empowerment and open communication. She emphasizes the importance of Filipino hospitality in setting her properties apart, saying, “Our heartfelt service, rooted in our rich culture, ensures that every guest feels welcomed as soon as they set foot in any of our properties.”
Beyond her role in hotel management, Israel serves as president of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Alliance of Boracay, contributing to the island’s growth as a top destination for events. Her career in hospitality, which began in 1996, is marked by innovation and continuous improvement, keeping Boracay Newcoast properties at the forefront of the industry.
Megaworld Hotels and Resorts operates 13 hotels across the country, including Belmont and Savoy in Boracay.
