The Senate has called for an investigation into Sual Mayor Liseldo Calugay to establish his role in the escape of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo and her cohorts from the Philippines.
According to Senator Risa Hontiveros, while Guo was already removed as mayor, there’s another official who used his position to help Guo or Guo Hua Ping hide and escape.

“We now have clear links pointing to the potential involvement of Sual Mayor Dong (Liseldo) Calugay,” said Hontiveros.
In an executive session on Thursday, Hontiveros also related that a “clear link” of Guo to Calugay surfaced, but she did not expound on the matter.
She hopes Calugay will attend the next Senate POGO hearing set on Monday, Sept. 9.
