Bacoor Lady Strikers keep lead; Biñan, San Juan win

BACOOR CITY—The Bacoor Lady Strikers-Metro Land Builders-Perpetual continued their dominance in the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) Season 1, securing consecutive wins on Monday at the Bacoor Strike Gym in Bacoor Government Center, Barangay San Nicolas II.

Despite a slow start, the Lady Strikers defeated the winless Valenzuela Classy (0-3) in four sets, 23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-17.

The victory extended their winning streak to three out of four games, solidifying their position at the top of the standings with a 3-1 win-loss record.

Jemalyn Menor led Bacoor’s offensive efforts with 21 points, contributing significantly to their third win.

Reigning MVP Shaila Omipon added 15 points, while Charisse Enrico and Bea Uy chipped in 15 and 10 points, respectively.

For Valenzuela Classy-Coast Guard, Abegail Nuval topped the scoring chart with 18 points, followed by Javen Sabas with 11 and Sheeka Espinosa with 7.

In other matches, the Biñan Tatak Gel Volley Angels bounced back with a sweep over the ICC Negros Lady Blue Hawks, 25-18, 25-15, 25-17.

The win moved Biñan to second place with a 2-1 record.

Meanwhile, the previously winless San Juan Lady Knights secured their second consecutive win by defeating the debuting Marikina, 25-17, 25-13, 25-22.

Nicole Alyanna Ong led San Juan’s scoring with nine points.

Lady Strikers’ team owner Dennis Abella commended Jem Menor for her outstanding performance in three consecutive games, earning him the back-to-back best player of the game award.
