Singer-songwriter and actor Wilbert Ross has spoken about the struggles he endured as he entered the entertainment industry in an interview with TV host and actor Luis Manzano.
In the latest episode of Manzano’s show “Luis Listens” on YouTube, the former Hashtags member shared how he first started out through an audition for the noontime variety show It’s Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan. A few months after his time on the show, he ended up auditioning for the reality competition Pinoy Boy Band Superstar but also lost.
Eventually, he auditioned for It’s Showtime’s boy group Hashtags. As he passed the later rounds of auditions, Ross became one of the official members of the boy group. While the limelight was everything he dreamed it to be, he eventually felt inferior compared to the other Hashtags members as they began to get more projects outside of the boy group.
When his mental health worsened, he began to seek professional help, which has greatly helped him recover. He soon began taking on more acting roles in films and TV shows and released an EP called “Lampara” in 2023.
He is set to star in the upcoming TV series Chasing in the Wild as Arkin alongside Gab Lagman and Hyacinth Callado.
