Travelers to the Philippines can now expect a quicker and hassle-free journey through the airport with the launch of the country’s Enhanced e-Travel System.
This innovative digital platform, a collaborative effort by the Bureau of Customs, Department of Information and Communications Technology, and other governmental bodies, replaces the former cumbersome process with a unified QR code encompassing customs, immigration, quarantine, and other travel prerequisites.
Previously, passengers had to deal with multiple forms for different airport clearances. The new system streamlines this process by providing a single QR code that contains all necessary information. This is expected to significantly reduce wait times at checkpoints.
“Sa immigration, pagka-scan ng passport, hindi na kailangan magtanong pa. Hindi na magtatanong ‘yan kung meron kang permits kasi naka-integrate na. Hindi na rin siya mag-eencode ng napakaraming data kasi automatic na ‘yung pag fill out ng information. This is a simplified but impactful innovation,” said DICT Undersecretary for eGovernment David Almirol.
Launched in 2022 to supersede the One Health Pass, the e-Travel System is an online platform accessible through any internet-enabled device.
Travelers can easily register on etravel.gov.ph, input the necessary details, and receive a QR code upon completion, which can be presented at the airport for expedited clearance.
The upgraded system aims to furnish a more secure and convenient travel experience for both local and international passengers.
