Korean sensation BTS member Jin completed his 18-month South Korean military service on Wednesday, June 12th. There were no official ceremonies, but Korean media captured Jin leaving his base, where he shared hugs and goodbyes with fellow soldiers.
The heartwarming moment was made even more special by the presence of his fellow BTS members, except Suga, who were there to celebrate his return. RM was holding a saxophone as he played the group’s hit song, “Dynamite”.
To celebrate their reunion, BTS posted a complete group photo on their X account. It’s their first group photo in a long time, and the caption simply reads, “I’m back!”, followed by a live session from Jin.
He also took to his Weverse account to thank all those people who welcomed him from the military.
“Thank you so much to the reporters and the ARMY who came to the company to say that [I was] discharged from the military. I couldn’t say hello properly because I was afraid it would get crowded, but thank you so much. ♡ Our ARMY is the best,” he wrote.
Jin’s discharge is perfectly timed for the group’s 11th anniversary tomorrow, June 13th. As previously announced by BigHit Music, Jin will be at the forefront of the upcoming Festa celebrations, which will include an in-person event with ARMYs.
Jin enlisted in December 2022, and the rest of the members are expected to complete their military service by 2025.
