Like other Filipinos every second Sunday of May, government officials took to their respective social media platforms to honor all kinds of mothers on Mother’s Day, especially those who are playing this incredibly important role in their lives.
Here are the highlights of what your top four public officials said about moms on Mother’s Day:
PRESIDENT FERDINAND MARCOS, JR.
“To our amazing mothers, single moms, dads playing the role of a mother, and to each and every stand-up mother, I want to know that your unwavering love and sacrifices light up our lives, and strengthen our society.”
President Marcos also greeted his wife, First Lady Marie Louise ‘Liza’ Araneta-Marcos, with whom he shares three sons. He described his better half as someone who “not only fills our home with love,” but also “stands ready to defend her family at any turn.”
“We are incredibly lucky to have you by our side. Your strength and compassion not only safeguard our family but also uplift our entire nation,” the President said in a separate post shared on his official Facebook page.
VICE PRESIDENT SARA DUTERTE-CARPIO
“We take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for the selfless sacrifices they make every day to nurture and care for their families. Their love and guidance pave the way for brighter futures and stronger communities.”
Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte sent a message addressed to all mothers, whom she acknowledged as “the unsung heroes of our lives.” She said mothers, especially those who are working in the country or overseas, play an “immeasurable role” towards nation-building.
“Kaisa ninyo ako sa panalangin na magbunga ang ating mga taos-pusong pagpupunyagi para sa ikabubuti ng ating mga anak, mga komunidad at bansa (I am one with you in praying that our hard work will bear fruit for the sake of our children, our communities, and our nation),” she said.
Vice President Duterte has three children with her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio.
SENATE PRESIDENT JUAN MIGUEL ZUBIRI
“Thank you for your patience and selflessness, and for building loving homes and loving communities for all of us. Saludo kami sa inyo! (We salute you!)”
Senate President Migz Zubiri greeted all mothers with a shoutout to his mother, Maria Victoria (nicknamed ‘Vicky’), and his wife Audrey.
HOUSE SPEAKER FERDINAND MARTIN ROMUALDEZ
“Mothers are the foundation of every Filipino family… They offer wisdom in quiet moments and resilience when faced with challenges, profoundly shaping both our lives and our communities.”
Speaker Romualdez acknowledged that every mother is “irreplaceable” in every person’s life. He said the mother’s efforts serve as “the backbone of our families” and their presence is “a constant source of comfort” for their loved ones and an “endless source of inspiration.”
“Let’s take a moment today to express our gratitude, to honor their enduring strength, and to cherish the precious time we share. May this day be filled with joy and be a testament to the love and respect we hold for you,” Romualdez said.
The leader of the House of Representatives extended his greeting to his mother Juliette and his wife Yedda.
