“The recent ambush and killing of the two Army intelligence operatives is a cause for deep concern. This incident underscores the persistent threats posed by extremist groups like Daulah Islamiyah-Maute in our region,” Adiong said.

The incident, he said, “emphasized the urgent need for collective condemnation and unity.”

The lawmaker also said  “in times of tragedy, our shared resilience challenges us to stand united against the forces of hatred and violence.”

In a privilege speech earlier on the Mindanao State University

(MSU)—Marawi bombing last month, Adiong said “the attack during a Sunday mass jeopardized the coexistence of Christians and Muslims in Mindanao.”

“The call for swift justice aligns with our commitment to addressing the root causes of extremism. We must recognize that the Christian-Muslim relationship is not just an aspiration but a necessity for our shared future,” he said.

“In times of tragedy, our shared resilience challenges us to stand united against the forces of hatred and violence.,” Adiong added.

“As we extend our condolences to the families and express gratitude for their service, we give the ambushed military men the honor they deserve for their courage, reaffirming our commitment to bringing the criminals to justice. In the pursuit of lasting peace, let us join forces to address these challenges and foster a future where diversity is celebrated, and the bonds of peace are unbreakable.”
