The only acapella group in the competition composed of teenagers from Cagayan de Oro emerged victorious with their eargasmic take on ‘Into The Unknown’ from the 2019 film “Frozen 2,” besting some of the finest talents in the competition during the grand finals last Sunday, December 10.

As the grand champion, Vocalmyx received a P1 million cash prize and a recording and management contract with Universal Music Group Philippines.

SB19’s Stell gave a short advice on where they can spend their cash prize, “Siguro ang masasabi ko sa perang nakuha nila bukod sa ipang-ce-celebrate niyo ‘yan ng Christmas with your family, pwede niyo siyang gamitin para makabili or magkaroon kayo ng sariling mga gamit na kailangan niyo in the future, sa mga recording, microphones etc.,” he said.

Along with Vocalmyx in the Top 4 were P3 of Billy Crawford’s Team Billy, Music & Me of Julie Anne San Jose’s JuleSquad, and Sorority of Chito Miranda’s Parokya ni Chito.

P3 delivered a mellifluous version of “Go The Distance” from the 1997 movie Hercules, while Sorority shook the stage with their “This is Me” performance from the 2017 musical film The Greatest Showman. Music and Me performed the 2005 song “Hallelujah” by Bamboo.

Stell also praised Vocalmyx because of their support with one another during the grand finals, “Feeling ko ang suporta na ‘yon ang nagpatibay lalo sa samahan nila. Sobrang maswerte kami na nabigyan ng pagkakataon at nagbukas ng pinto para sa ganitong klaseng talento, marinig at makita dito sa buong bansa,” he added.

The members of Vocalmyx have been entertaining the coaches and audiences since the blind auditions with their acapella rendition of  “Haypa,” which earned them a four-chair turn. They also performed “Marupok,” “Queen of the Night,” and “Killing Me Softly” en route to the grand finals.
