International and local experts are meeting to discuss and review the Philippine Competition Law or Republic Act No. 10667.
Eight years into its enforcement, RA 10667 has yet to realize its full potential to penalize cartels and promote business competition, the bedrock of consumer protection, and help accelerate investments and job creation, according to the experts.
Experts will discuss what needs to be done to further strengthen the law and provide the needed support to the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) in its investigation and enforcement mandate in a two-day seminar at the UP Law Center on Dec. 5 and 6.
Among the attendees are PCC chair Michael Aguinaldo; Prof. William Kovacic of George Washington University and former commissioner and chair of the United States Federal Trade Commission; and Prof. Cuyvers and Ben Van Rompuy, EU competition law experts from Leiden University in the Netherlands.
Also attending are Dr. Andrea Gideon of the University of Liverpool and Rachel Burgess, visiting professor at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.
The hybrid event will also be available online through Zoom.
