The couple has been supporting each other and offering guidance during their solo projects. Daniel highlights their collaboration in script discussions and character development.

“But of course, I don’t want to meddle too much anymore. We kind of have that. We have boundaries, too. Like this, she had a movie, I’m just on the side, because it’s her spotlight, it’s all hers. I’m just here to support her from behind,” he said.

When asked how soon we were going to see a KathNiel comeback film, Daniel explained that they had to finish their respective solo projects first.

“Not sure sa latag pa namin. I have three projects—solo movies. Well, Kathryn already had one, for me, I’m doing Kamatayan. Then, I have two upcoming movies,” revealed Daniel.

“But let’s do these solo movies first. Let us pause from doing love team projects. We all know that we’ve done a lot. So, that when we come back, of course, our return will be more heartfelt, a real comeback,” he continued.

In terms of leveling up their relationship, Daniel emphasized that they were taking it slow and easy.

“Let’s take it easy. Nice and slow. Kailangan nating galawin ang ating chess board nang tama. Let’s not rush things. Because we still have a lot to do so, let’s finish this first especially now that we will renew our contract with ABS-CBN,” he started.

“Let’s plan it out properly before taking it to the next level so we don’t need to worry about anything. It’s not like we’re going to the next level, then we’re being bombarded with so many things. It’s hard to do everything at once. So, let’s plan it out properly,” explained Daniel.

The actor is currently gearing up for his big screen comeback with Nang Mapagod si Kamatayan, together with Zanjoe Marudo, which will be directed by Dan Villegas and written by National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee. The movie is said to start its filming in November.

“It’s a story about life, about self. When they pitched Kamatayan to me, among the many pitches I received that day, even when they just started telling me the story, I was already excited, parang tumaas agad ‘yung BP ko. This is the kind of story that I really want. Because when they said Kamatayan, I already knew where the story was going,” reiterated Daniel.

“I like those kinds of stories. You know those social redemption films, epic films, right? The story is very Tom Hanks, like Forrest Gump. It’s an epic film and then I just found out that Sir Ricky wrote it. I said, this film needs to be taken care of, so it took us a while to do it. Kailangan siyang alagaan kasi maselan, sobrang selan nu’ng kwento, Kailangan siyang magawa nang tama. Kailangan ma-execute nang tama,” he added.

On the other hand, Daniel also expressed his gratitude that he will be able to work with award-winning actor John Arcilla in the film The Guest.

“First of all, of course, I really want to work with Sir John. I can learn a lot from him. And that is also one of the wishes of actors, right, to work with excellent actors because you get to learn a lot of things from them. it’s fun on the scene, you don’t know what will come out, and the story itself is intense. It’s intense, it’s kind of a thriller,” he added.

Aside from the movie lineups that he had, Daniel had been very busy doing a lot of endorsements and recently, he had been tapped by a local gourmet brand to become its first-ever celebrity ambassador.

“I’m very proud and very thankful. I think the stars aligned,” said the multi-talented artist.

Daniel also mentioned that RKitchen has always been his go-to food ever since and cited that it became his “comfort food.”

“No joke, we always buy RKitchen products. Kami nila Kathryn dati, ‘yun talaga favorite namin sa umaga at ‘pag nagutom din sa gabi. Tinapa sa umaga, tinapa rin sa gabi,” shared Daniel.

Founded by couple Ryan and Reese Regua, the gourmet brand began with a vision and inspiration to turn the family’s cherished family recipe into a thriving business.
