PNP conducts free pet care event for police personnel

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Benjamin Acorjda Jr. led the appreciation of proper animal care, as part of the institution’s 5 Point Focus Agenda on Community Engagement, when the PNP launched a free pet care event that was attended by pet owners from the ranks of the police and families of PNP personnel.

Acorda’s partners in the initiative are the Police Community Affairs Development Group (PCADG), Univet Nutrition and Animal Healthcare Company (UNAHCO), animal welfare group, Biyaya Animal Care Center (Biyaya), and public relations firm, ABBA PR held in Camp Crame recently.

The joint team of UNAHCO and Biyaya Animal Care Center conducts free spay and neuter, free anti-rabies vaccination, pet grooming, and distribution of pet food sampling. More than 500 police personnel participated in the event with their lovely pet dogs and cats in tow.

Free spay and neuter, free anti-rabies vaccination, pet grooming, and pet food sampling were conducted for pet cats and dogs inside Camp Crame.

UNAHCO, Inc. is known as the trusted partner of Filipino animal raisers. The company provides quality and affordable animal nutrition and healthcare solutions.

Several bags of Yum Yum dog food were also donated by UNAHCO to the PNP K-9 EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Unit to support its campaign for national security and detection of explosive devices and even narcotics.

The EOD-K9 Group is mandated to ensure the safe disposal of all types of bombs and the neutralization of hazards from conventional unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices (lED) that pose a threat to public safety, installations, and facilities.

Positive responses from PNP personnel were noted during the event, some wishing that the activity would be done annually because of the growing number of pet lovers among the PNP and their families. The sponsors happily thanked Chief PNP PGeneral Benjamin C. Acorda, Jr. and the Police Community Affairs Development Group (PCADG) for making the event a success. As of press time, plans are being made to bring the activity to various PNP camps in the regions.
