2 policemen nabbed in Muntinlupa drug raid

A POLICE and his colleague who went on absence without official leave (AWOL) were arrested during an anti-narcotics operation in Muntinlupa City.

Pa. Rey Palomar Baldonasa, assigned to the National Capital Region Police Office – Drug Enforcement Unit, and Carlos Rivera Navarro, declared AWOL by the Caloocan City Police Office, were arrested during a raid along Purok 10, Amparo Street in Barangay Poblacion.

Seized from the suspects were a .9 mm Canik handgun and a magazine, PNP Identification Cards, and 10 grams of shabu worth P68,000.

The suspects are in police custody and charged with violating Article II, Sections 5, 11, and 26 of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, related to Batas Pambansa 881, the Omnibus Election Code.

NCRPO director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. cited the operatives of Muntinlupa Police Station – Drug Enforcement Unit for the operation’s success. He reiterated that he would never tolerate any nefarious activities involving police personnel under his watch.

Meanwhile, the police intensified and simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operations in Metro Manila also led to the arrest of a serial rapist and 17 other criminal elements within 24 hours.

A composite team from the Malabon City Police Station – Warrant and Subpoena Section and the 4th Mobile Force Company – Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the National Capital Region Police Office arrested Darren Cutanda.

The 31-year-old suspect, tagged number 4 in the list of most wanted men in the northern part of Metro Manila, was arrested along Celia II Street, Barangay Bayan-Bayanan, Malabon City.

Cutanda is facing a Warrant of Arrest for the crime of Rape (three counts) issued by Judge Misael Madeo Ladaga of Regional Trial Court Branch 292, Malabon City, on Sept. 27, 2023, with no bail recommended.

He was turned over to the Malabon City Police Station Custodial Facility for temporary confinement pending the issuance of a commitment order from the court of origin.

The NCRPO also announced the arrest of 17 other individuals for various crimes, including attempted murder, slight physical injuries, estafa, robbery, syndicated estafa, and qualified theft.
