Morning downpour floods NCR areas, Edsa impassable

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported on Saturday that the northbound lane of EDSA in front of the Armed Forces of the
Philippines was flooded and impassable to light vehicles like cars and motorcycles.

The MMDA also reported flooding in the following areas: Edsa SB Panay Ave towards Mo. Ignacia; EDSA Kamuning Northbound and Southbound; East Ave. Westbound before EDSA; and  C5 Eastwood SB. Other flooded areas include Balintawak Market; España; and G. Araneta, among others.

Flood in some roads was gutter deep and heavy traffic was also reported.

The weather bureau meanwhile reported that two low pressure areas (LPAs) and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring scattered rain showers over parts of the country over the weekend PAGASA said one LPA was estimated to be located at 85 kilometers northeast of Infanta, Quezon at 3 a.m. The other LPA was estimated to be located at 125 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales.

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will be affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, PAGASA said.

Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, PAGASA said.

PAGASA further said the rest of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds moving southwestward while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
