Khalil Ramos makes movie comeback in ‘As If It’s True’, theatrical debut in ‘Tick, Tick…Boom!’
It has been a busy year for Sparkle artist Khalil Ramos as he returns to the silver screen in a new romantic-comedy film and makes his theatrical debut this August.
In the upcoming Cinemalaya festival, Khalil will be starring as James in the film As If It’s True, alongside fellow Kapuso, Ashley Ortega, who will play the character of Gemma.
To add another milestone to his career, the 27-year-old actor is set to hit the theater stage as he takes on the lead role of an aspiring musical composer, Jon, in the musical Tick, Tick…Boom!
In As If It’s True, Khalil will be captivating the audience with his acting prowess. Known for his versatility and ability to immerse himself in various characters, the 27-year-old actor shared during the press conference that somehow, he could relate to James.
“Yes, in a way, I could relate to my character, who is a musician. I know how it feels to be a struggling artist. I could relate to him [in the aspect of] adjusting and compromising his passion for financial stability, especially during the pandemic,” explained Khalil.
He also mentioned that when it comes to handling a relationship, he and his character have their differences.
Sharing the spotlight with Khalil is Ashley, who recently finished her Heart on Ice drama series. The film marks their first project together.
“This is my first time working with Ashley on a project. We have met at endorsement events before. This is the first time we have collaborated on a drama. The experience was fantastic because she’s very collaborative and enthusiastic, and the material we worked on resonated with both of us,” said Khalil.
“As If It’s True” is an official entry to this year’s Cinemalaya Festival and promises to captivate the audience with its relatable storyline.
Khalil also expressed his excitement as he embarked on a new journey of performing on the theater stage with Tick, Tick…Boom!
In an interview last year, Khalil revealed that he always finds solace in singing and loves performing on stage. Now that he has been allowed to star in a musical, Khalil shared that he is “enjoying every single bit of it.”
“I am enjoying it very much, as I mentioned earlier, as an actor, I don’t come across a process like this every day because this is the first-ever theater and stage production that I am a part of,” he stated. “It’s such a different experience for me to be given the time to immerse myself in a character for that long. I’m enjoying every single moment of it,” added Khalil.
Presented by 9 Works Theatrical, Tick, Tick…Boom! runs until August 13 and on all weekends of the month.
