Filipino-American Robyn Brown pockets Asian Championship gold with win in women’s 400m hurdles

FILIPINO-American Robyn Lauren Brown outpaced two Japanese bets to grab the gold medal for the Philippines in the women’s 400-meter hurdles on Day 4 of the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships at the National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

A  time of 57.50 seconds gave the 28-year-old Brown her second medal as a national athlete since the 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia when she settled for the silver medal.

Brown’s performance was a tick lower than her previous SEA Games stint where she clocked  56.15 seconds.

Japanese runner Eri Utsonomiya landed second with a time of  57.73 seconds and compatriot Ami Yamamoto took the bronze medal in 57.80 seconds.

Meanwhile, Sarah Dequinan moved up to overall fifth in the women’s heptathlon meet.

The 30-year-old Dequinan moved up to fifth overall after earning 4683 points.

She did it after Dequinan first took third in the long jump with a leap of 5.82 meters.

Ekaterina Voronina of Uzbekistan was ahead in 6.07 meters, followed in second by Swapna Barman of India (5.84).

When Dequinan ended up in third in the javelin throw at 46.06 meters, Voronina secured first place in 51.87 seconds, while Barman took second in 51.87 meters.

Overall, Voronina stayed in front of the standings with 5215, while Yamasa is third(4837).
