Newport World Resorts celebrates heritage month across the property with a charity art exhibit by Marriott Hotel Manila and Rotary Club Passport One in cooperation with Marriott Business Council Philippines and Collection Art Studio dubbed Art of Giving: Make it your piece of heART located at The Link by Marriott until June 30.
The charity exhibit was officially opened to the public on May 19, attended by industry luminaries and the Department of Tourism National Capital Region Director Sharlene Batin.
The art pieces on display are available for sale to enthusiasts and collectors alike, and are made by seasoned and up-and-coming local visual artists. Part of the proceeds of each sale will help fund and aid various community service projects of the Rotary Club Passport One and the Marriott Business Council Philippines.
This year’s Art of Giving exhibit is the second in a series that was started in November last year.
“It is our commitment to provide our guests with wonderful hospitality, thus the need to make every initiative for our guests more meaningful and worthwhile. Holding this exhibit at The Link by Marriott Manila is also a symbolic gesture. The Link connects our main hotel with the West Wing, and this exhibit connects arts closer to patrons and Marriott closer to our community, says Bruce Winton, Marriott International Multi-property Vice President – Philippines.
On the other hand, its strategic partner, Rotary Club Passport One of Rotary District 3800 has been running several community service projects which include medical and surgical missions for indigents and indigenous communities, educational and livelihood programs for deserving students, and rebuilding the lives of the victims of war in Marawi by enabling the supply of clean and potable drinking water. Rotary is an international organization that affords volunteer humanitarian services with high ethical standards geared toward promoting goodwill and peace.
Rotary Club Passport One President, Dr. Michael Corsino imparts, “We at Rotary believe that art is a powerful tool for promoting social change and making a positive impact in our community. Through the Art of Giving exhibit, we hope to inspire a sense of philanthropy and have a deeper appreciation for our Filipino identity, and encourage a sense of pride in our heritage”
Collection Arts Studio, a provider of art display has over 10,000 art pieces in their inventory led by art curator Dr. Danielle Santos, “It has always been our aim to promote art appreciation in the Philippines and in line with this, highlight and bring awareness to the talents of our local artists. This collection includes works by Renowned artists from different parts of the Philippines such as Romulo Galicano, Wilfredo Canete, Clint Normandia, Jeff Dizon, and Ramoncito Doplon to name a few.”
