Press Secretary Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles officially informed Eala of his appointment.

Confirmation of the appointment of Eala is expected to arrive on Wednesday at the PSC offices in Vito Cruz.

Aside from being a former commissioner of the PBA from 2003 to 2007, Eala was the first executive director of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.

“President Marcos has continuously recognized sports victories early in his term, a testament to his commitment to sports,” said Malacanang in a statement.

One of Eala’s visions is to make basketball a global undertaking, aside from helping Filipino athletes and Philippine sports in general.

Eala will be the 11th chairman of the PSC, replacing William “Butch” Ramirez.

Since Ramirez stepped down last June, executive director Atty. Guillermo Iroy and commissioner Bong Coo have been handling the PSC reins.
