After recently teasing a unique collaboration with Elvis film director Baz Luhrmann, K-pop icon
G-Dragon finally released his version of Elvis Presley’s classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love.” On
July 17, the BIGBANG rapper shared a two-minute-long cover of the ballad with its music video.
G-Dragon’s version immerses a slow and progressive rock sound that incorporates the King Of
Rock and Roll’s signature tune. The cover’s visual footage found some previews from the recent Elvis movie.
At a media conference, Luhrmann shared that he plans to do more projects with K-pop artists in the future as he believes that American and Korean pop culture is “closely related” in history.
“These K-pop artists could bring their unique sound to an American classic,” Luhrmann said. “K-pop culture began with Elvis in the 1950s.”
Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic features different artists who collaborated on an exclusive soundtrack for the film, including award-winning artists Eminem, Mark Ronson, and Doja Cat.
Luhrmann has tapped several music artists to produce various renditions of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” and will release a compilation playlist within the year.
