The Philippines set record viewership numbers on Facebook Watch during the first two weeks of the 2019-2020 NBA season tip-off. In particular, the season-opening game between the Los Angeles Lakers at L.A. Clippers generated a total of 15.7 million viewing minutes, which is comparable to the 2018-19 UEFA Champions League Final between Liverpool and Tottenham accumulating 16.5 million viewing minutes on Australia’s Optus Sports platform.
NBA Philippines Facebook is the largest regional NBA Facebook page with over 4 million fans.
The first 10 full-length livestreamed games on Facebook Watch in the Philippines generated a record 11.2 million total views and 9.2 million total viewers (averaging 1 million views and viewers per game).
The three Lakers' games generated 5 million total views (1.7 million average views per game) and 3.9 million total viewers (1.3 million average viewers per game).
The opening day game between the Los Angeles Lakers and L.A. Clippers on Oct. 23 accumulated 2.6 million views and 2 million viewers.
It reached 10.9 million unique viewers with 15.7 million viewing minutes and generated 16.7 million impressions on Facebook, which is nearly quadruple the total followers on NBA Philippines Facebook.
As of Nov. 2019, the highest-viewed game on the NBA Philippines Facebook is the Nov. 10 game featuring the Toronto Raptors at Los Angeles Lakers with 2.8 million views and 2.1 million viewers.
It also accumulated 14.5 million viewing minutes and generated 5.9 million impressions.
