Nature and nightlife in this part of Boracay

Boracay nightlife, as in the parties that energized the island, is alive in this township which is expected to be the next hottest destination in Aklan.

Those who miss the lively parties in Boracay, which are now prohibited, can enjoy it at Boracay Newcoast, the master-planned township development by Megaworld’s Global-Estate Resorts, Inc.

“We are the only property in Boracay that can hold parties,” beamed area general manager Rolando Galano.

THE NEXT BEST THING. Boracay Newcoast, Megaworld's 150-hectare master-planned township, is expected to be the next hottest destination in Boracay what with its three hotel properties, commercial outlets, boutique hotel district, residential property developments, and 300-meter white sand beach.

The parties Galano mentioned are held at the party pool of Savoy Hotel Boracay, the first of three hotel developments that opened in the 150-hectare Boracay Newcoast. The venue, he said, can accommodate up to 500 party-goers.

But those who prefer a quiet, more relaxed sun-sand-sea getaway are invited to stay in Belmont Hotel, the three-tower hotel development located within the sloping area of the estate beside Savoy.

The first of the three towers opened on Sept. 23. The next two are opening soon.

While Savoy is geared toward millennials and yuppies, “Belmont is classier and more sophisticated. We are targeting travelers who prefer a more laid-back staycation,” said Galano.

Megaworld’s second Belmont brand in the country has 442 rooms classified into four categories, namely Deluxe Twin, Deluxe Queen, Premier Deluxe, and Executive Suites with sizes ranging from 27 to 52 square meters.

There are also six special rooms for persons with disability. Each cluster has two. These rooms, according to Galano, are equipped with facilities such as blinking light fire alarm, lower peep hole, and handlebars, among others.

Each room is afforded with a relaxing view of nature, that of the eastern beach of Boracay, of the lush rolling landscape, or of the golf course on the southern side of the township.

“[Belmont Boracay] offers an exclusive nature experience in Boracay as it allows guests to see the island’s panoramic natural scenery from one building to another,” said Raymundo Melendrez, managing director of Luxury Global Hotels and Leisure, Inc., the company operating Belmont Hotels under the Megaworld Hotels Group.

Nature is preserved as 60 percent of the estate is dedicated to green and open spaces. The township also implements green and sustainable features, such as its own sewage treatment facility, detention and siltation tanks, and material recovery facility. Boracay Newcoast uses solar-powered and LED street lamps as well as electronic jeepneys.

The remaining 40 percent of the township consists of the three hotel developments: Belmont, Savoy, and Chancellor Hotel (which will open in 2021); Oceanway Residences (residential condominium development); Newcoast Village (2.5-hectare gated residential lot), and Shophouse (commercial area) and Boutique Hotel districts.

With the soon to open shophouses and boutique hotels, including a soon-to-open McDonald’s, Boracay Newcoast is expected to attract guests even those staying in the more popular White Beach area.

“I can see that it’s going to be a destination. Guests of other hotels should come to Newcoast Boracay to see how beautiful this township is,” enthused Galano.

The expected influx of tourists does not bother the developer, citing the township’s master-planned development.

“The commercial areas are scattered, they can just walk around because everything is interconnected. [In terms of safety], the village is a gated community and there are CCTVs even at the beach,” Boracay Newcoast vice president for marketing and sales Jennifer Palmares-Fong told Manila Standard.

Newcoast Boracay has its own 300-meter beachfront which features the island’s signature powdery white sand. But should guests prefer to head to White Beach, Savoy and Belmont hotels offer free shuttle service to guests.

Those who are happy to be cocooned in their rooms at Belmont can enjoy the hotel's facilities and establishments such as the all-day dining Belmont Café, which serves Asian and Mediterranean cuisines; Zabana Pool Bar; and the Trellis Garden located within the landscaped deck.

The hotel also features a swimming pool and in-pool lounge, Aqua Spa, courtyard, landscaped gardens, fitness center with shower and changing rooms, business center, function halls, meeting rooms, a full-time concierge, and 24-hour in-room dining service.
