The Quezon City Police District on Monday announced the arrest of a "notorious" member of Abu Sayaff Group wanted for abduction and serious illegal detention.
Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel Jr., QCPD director, identified the suspect as Abuhair Kullim Indal with the aliases, as Annual Dasil and Abu Khair, 32, of Basilan and residing at 104 Cotabato St., Salam Compound in Barangay Culiat.
Indal was arrested last April 12 at around 4:25 p.m. in his house by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, led by Major Elmer Monsalve.
Esquivel said a warrant of arrest for criminal case nos. 3432, 3551, 3552, 3566, 3567, 3569 and 3570 for abduction and serious illegal detention issued by Judge Leo Jay Principe of the Isabela City lower court in Basilan.
Indal tried to resist arrest and took out a hand grenade under his pillow.
Ge was charged with the cases for Violation of Republic Act 9516 (Unlawful Possession of Explosives) in relation to Omnibus Election Code and Resistance and Disobedience to of Person in Authority.
According to Esquivel, Indal was one of the trusted men of ASG commander Furuji Indama and a former member of ASG sub-leader Nur Hassan Jamiri who surrendered last March 28, 2018.
The suspect also participated in the abduction of 15 victims at the Golden Harvest Plantation in Barangay Tairan Lantawan, Basilan last June 11, 2001 led by the late ASG leader Isnilon Hapilon.
Moreover, Esquivel, Indal also "fiercely" engaged the military during an encounter sometime in August 2001 at the vicinity of Kumalarang, Basilan where he was wounded in the right arm.
