Sustainable land use strategy in the works for Atimonan

The final Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) documents to chart Atimonan town’s development as an agro-industrial center, anchored on agriculture and tourism, were recently turned over to local government officials of this fast-growing Quezon province municipality. Atimonan Mayor Rustico Joven Mendoza led a delegation of local government unit (LGU) leaders to receive the documents from Architect Grace Ramos, environmental planner of Grandt Planners.

“This CLUP seeks to achieve a synchronized development, supported by an adaptive infrastructure system in Atimonan,” explained Mendoza.

Among the key industrial infrastructure soon to rise in Atimonan is a 1,200 megawatt, high efficiency, low emissions coal power plant in Quezon province, to be built by Meralco Powergen, a unit of manila Electric Company.  At the turnover were  (from left to right): Architect  Ramos; Christopher Chua, VP for development – Meralco Powergen and development manager for Atimonan One Energy (A1E), Inc.; Mayor Mendoza; Rogelio L.
