The Tiger Cubs, who outrebounded the Junior Maroons, 54-36, went on to bounce back from their 66-94 loss to the solo leading Nazareth School-National University Bullpups last Wednesday.
John Bismarck Lina added 21 points and 16 boards for the Tiger Cubs, who improved their win-loss record in fourth spot at 5-5.
Johnvic Casingcasing only had seven points, but he delivered crucial baskets in the start of the third period.
The Tiger Cubs started moving away from a 52-49 spread at the end of the third following Casingcasing’s jumper off Jomar Amador’s assist with 8:29 left in the fourth.
Casingcasing’s basket touched off a 7-0 spurt, and put the Tiger Cubs by 10, 59-49, in the ensuing play.
Allen Torres banged in 20 points for the Junior Maroons, who remained at the bottom of the standings at 1-9.
Earlier, Raven Cortez fired 16 points for the La Salle Zobel Junior Archers as they beat the University of the East Junior Warriors, 70-66.
The Junior Archers are in fifth at 4-6.
Gerry Abadiano banged in 22 points for the Bullpups as they won over the Adamson Junior Falcons, 82-54, and remained firm in the lead with their 9-1 record. “‹
