Bullpups nail 2nd win in Martin Cup

Batang Gilas standout Gerry Abadiano and Kevin Quiambao showed the way as the National University Bullpups prevailed over the San Beda University-B Red Lions, 116-90, over the weekend in the 16th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament.

Abadiano and Quiambao shot 15 points apiece for the Bullpups, who finished their Group A assignment with a 5-2 record at the St. Placid Gymnasium inside San Beda-Manila campus in Mendiola.

With Dominic Dayrit adding 14 points, the Bullpups went on to gain the first quarterfinals slot, according to commissioner Robert dela Rosa.

It was the Bullpups’ second consecutive triumph after they won over La Consolacion College-Manila, 61-51, the other week.

University of Perpetual Help-Molino picked up its first win in four games after beating Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, 102-97, in overtime.

The Diliman College Blue Dragons claimed win no. 2 at the expense of the NU Bullpups, 94-84, in an earlier match.

In the junior division, the Chiang Kai Shek Blazing Dragons moved a win closer to a quarterfinals’ berth after posting their sixth straight victory over Diliman Preparatory School, 70-60.

They had earlier carved out a 65-51 swamping of La Consolacion College-Manila.

Angelo Magno made 22 points for Rich Golden School Montessori in stopping Paco Citizens Academy Foundation, 76-68.

The University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs outplayed the San Beda Red Cubs, 98-83.
