WORKS OF ART. The sculptures at Galleria Romanelli bring to light Salvatore Ferragamo’s creations’ artistic and timeless character.

In a new series videos by Italian filmmaker Marescotti Ruspoli and interpreted by Maria Vera Ratti, some of Salvatore Ferragamo’s most famous and historical creations are interpreted in six hidden locations in Florence—the city with which the eponymous designer fell in love and in which he founded his maison in 1927.

Hidden outside the typical tourist and media circuits, these six gems of history, art, and outstanding beauty are all intimate and characteristic places of Florence, Italy.

Dubbed “Unexpected Florence,” the video series shows a 1925 floral decorated shoe, placed next to a sophisticated crocodile top handle bag among the sculptures at the Galleria Romanelli in Borgo San Frediano, where for almost two centuries veritable art masterpieces have been situated.

The court shoe designed for Marilyn Monroe in 1959, on the other hand, takes the leading role in the fresh twilight of Aquaflor, a charming fragrance workshop in Borgo Santa Croce.

Among statues and wisterias, in the centuries-old gardens of Villa Bardini, there is the 1941 triangular patchwork shoe.

The open-toe sandal, a masterly example of elegance and comfort created in 1940, is accompanied by an ostrich top handle bag in the majestic gardens of Villa Corsini al Prato.

Meanwhile, the velvets and stucco works of the historical Teatro della Pergola, one of Italy’s most ancient theaters, offer a beautiful stage to the world-renowned satin and rhinestone sandal created in 1938 for Indira Devi, Maharani of Cooch Behar, and to a precious matching evening clutch.

Finally, the round-tip pump made for a famous actress in 1954, together with an elegant clutch bag, is shown at Numeroventi Design Residency, the eclectic hospitality and co-working space for artists newly opened a few steps from the Duomo.

Interpreted with sharp elegance and modern taste by Ruspoli, the new union between wonderful, unexpected Florentine locations and iconic models from the Ferragamo’s Creations A/W ‘18 collection brings to light the artistic, purely timeless character of both; united by a refined dialogue of shapes and colors, textures and atmospheres, as well as by the respective authors’ talent and passion for beauty.

The six videos of the “Unexpected Florence” series, together with a range of selected images, are available on www.ferragamo.com, on the brand’s social channels, and in the most important Salvatore Ferragamo flagship stores.

Salvatore Ferragamo is located at Greenbelt 4, Rustan’s Shangri-La, Rustan’s Makati, Newport Mall, and Solaire Resort and Casino.
