Contaminated drinking water from an artesian well pump near a creek and a piggery is being pointed as the cause of the outbreak of diarrhea in a town in Negros Oriental.
The diarrhea outbreak downed 169 residents, most of whom were children.

Local authorities said the water samples from the well had tested positive for e-Coli bacteria.
According to a television report, the outbreak affected mostly residents from Barangay Looc in Sibulan town.
Local health officials said that they had already distributed water sanitizers and conducted water treatment in the area.
They also reminded residents to always boil their water for drinking.
