The parish priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Brookside, Cainta, Fr. Jaime Padilla, underlined Thursday the importance of prayer—to express a person’s gratitude to God for His blessings.
Padilla was delivering his message during the 7th anniversary of the Elderly Ministry at the Multipurpose Hall of the church inside the middle income subdivision of Cainta, Rizal.
“One of the four things I would like to convey to you today, on your anniversary, is the importance of prayer, when we communicate with God and thank Him for the blessings given us in life,” he told members headed by Wilhelmina Imperial of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.
He said he was impressed that the elderly had the regular gathering and story-sharing at least once a month, which “lightens whatever load you have in life.”
“It’s God, of course, who helps us illuminate our lives, and we should not forget to thank Him for the blessings we enjoy…and we must not forget to pray for long years, long faith and for doing good in our daily life,” the priest told the Elderly Ministry, composed of men and women, 60 years old and above.
He stressed that while there was deep theological meaning in prayer, it did not have to be difficult and complicated.
The church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, born by canonical erection in 1999, is under the Diocese of Antipolo with seven mini pastoral councils.
