Clark Freeport- Widus Philippines Incorporated's (WPI) USD 1-B fully integrated resort investment project broke ground inside the Widus Complex recently.
The Widus Tower four- the first half of the billion dollar project from the renowned gaming owner and operator- is the first of its kind north of Manila, rising on a 20,000sqm land area and boasts a total of 130,000sqm gross floor area beside soon-to-open Marriott Hotel-Clark.
"We are not only building a new hotel. We are building a new experience of luxury hospitality," WPI President and CEO Daesik Han said during the recent groundbreaking ceremony.
Upon its expected completion in the last quarter of 2020, the project is estimated to dramatically increase employment by creating over a thousand jobs by 2022.
"The iconic new addition of Widus towards being a world-class one-stop leisure destination," he added as the 19-storey building will boast modern architecture aesthetically complemented by nature and lush green landscapes.
Upon completion of the fully integrated project, Widus has already invested a total of $500-M. Aside from this, another half a billion dollar is slated to be utilized for the development of a mixed-use commercial area at their newly-acquired spaced located at the former Duty-Free area.
Presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony together with Han were Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President Vivencio Dizon, Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation President CEO Andre Domingo, and Clark Development Corporation (CDC) President Noel Manankil.
"The Widus Tower Four will definitely be a game changer in the regional hospitality landscape. We strategically planned this development to serve the community even better by opening more opportunities to the locals while, at the same time, catering to both the business and tourism market," said Widus AVP for Corporate Planning and Development Neki Liwanag.
According to Han, the façade of tower 4 will showcase lines and contours flaunting structural impressions of Banaue Rice Terraces. Likewise, a one-of-a kind water park nestled in a tropical haven will also be constructed. To add to its distinct features, it will incorporate traditional as well as modern elements of Korean architecture, pop culture, cuisine, beauty, and even cosmetics.
With the notable boost in tourism in Clark, WPI aims to bring Widus at par with premier leisure and gaming destinations here and abroad.
Widus Tower Four will feature 380 well-appointed rooms along with luxurious five-star facilities and amenities such as specialty dining options, retail outlets, swimming pool, executive lounge plus event venues such as ballroom and function rooms.
To stay true to its nature of being a family destination, it is also set to bring to guests of all ages breathtaking entertainment, world-class amusements, state-of-the-art virtual gaming experience and interactive wellness activities.
