Boxer Power!

In a show of force and dominance in the performance motor oil market, Motul Ph, in cooperation with Motor Image Pilipinas and Subaru Alabang, staged a daylong car show at the Greenhills Shopping center over the weekend.

“This show is an appreciation to our loyal patrons for their continued support to Motul oil and lubricants. It is also meant to highlight Motul and Subaru’s partnership when it comes to performance and innovation,” states Carlos Gono, Managing Partner of Autoplus, the exclusive distributors of Motul in the domestic market.

Organized by Blanco Marketing, the event drew a multitude of fans of Subaru and were amazed by the Impreza WRX Sti’s on display in various states of tune and customization. All seven generations of the Impreza WRX Sti were represented. “We are happy with the turnout and support of the car clubs in Metro Manila and in the surrounding provinces. On display were 50 Impreza Sti’s; six Nissan GTR’s, two Miata’s, a custom Toyota Land Cruiser, six Royal Enfield motorbikes and two Moto Guzzi’s. Motor Image came in full force as they had  their own display tent at the venue with five Subaru variants on display,” explains Noreen Blanco of Blanco Marketing. “This show will benefit Barangay Greenhills and we thank them for allowing us to stage our show in this commercial district,” adds Blanco.

Luis Gono beams proudly with his 320bhp Subaru Impreza WRX STi

Notable Subaru’s on display was the 320 horsepower Impreza Sti of Luis Gono, which was equipped with carbon fiber body panels and accessories, and an engine customized by Pacho Blanco of Autoplus. “ My Sti is equipped with a Precision 58 turbine and APR front mount intercooler, shod with TE37 Volk Rays Engineering wheels wrapped in Zestino performance tires,” says the young Gono, who made motorsports history as the first Toyota Vios Cup Champion. There were also a dose of old school Impreza’s in mint condition and the Sti GRB of Mark Anton David won the Best GRB/STi with his customized Impreza Sti hatchback.

A crowd favorite was the display area of the Manila GTR Club which had on display the Ph drag racing record holder 1,400 bhp GTR of racer Jonathan Tiu and the white 500bhp customized GTR of Wes Tsai. “ I have tried and tested all brands of oil and only Motul 300V can withstand the max out tuning and maximize the output of my engine. Motul was crucial in my winning the championship and achieving the fastest drag car record in the country,” adds Tiu.

Plans are in the pipelline to stage another car show in the coming months. “We are thankful to God for the successful staging of this BoxerFest” event, and we are preparing for the next event, God willing,” says Banco. The show is part of Barangay Greenhills program Hot Wheels in Greenhills, to promote the area as an alternative venue for car related shows.
