An ecological group appealed to President Rodrigo Duterte to immediately rescue and protect Filipinos against the clear and present danger brought about by real threats of fatal air pollution.
They also included in their urgent appeal to Duterte issues involving poor working conditions and the poor occupational safety and health hazards protection that now exists in most industrial factories and manufacturing sites nationwide because it gravely impacts against human life.
Clean Air Philippines Movement Inc. president Manuel Galvez yesterday said “our government cannot anymore turn a blind eye on the real danger of air pollution to us all who breathe it daily. In a polluted air environment all of us without exception automatically becomes unwilling victims. Government must be decisive and must act now to save precious Filipino lives from deadly respiratory and cardiovascular diseases (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, cancer, heart attack, stroke and even sudden death) due to air pollution which incidentally also contributes to climate change.”
