AFTER joining the Liberal Party in 2001, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista is back to the Nationalist People’s Coalition in preparation for his congressional bid in District 3 in 2019.

Bautista recently took his oath of office before NPC Chairman Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco held at the San Miguel Corp. head office in Pasig City.

According to Cojuangco, the Quezon City mayor is the newest member-returnee.

Bautista will run for Congress against three-term District 3 Councilor Allan Benedict Reyes.

Bautista was an NPC member from 1995 when he was then a city councilor up to 1998 when he lost in the mayoralty race.

In 2001, he joined the Liberal Party and won in the vice mayoralty race, along with then District 3 representative Feliciano Belmonte Jr. as mayor.

Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte of LP and majority of the 36-member council have jumped ship to the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan.
