BONTOC, Mt. Province—Two Cabinet officials were formally adopted by the provincial government as sons of Mt. Province during simple adoption rights, which coincided with the province’s 50th founding anniversary held at the Eyeb Grounds here.
Philippine National Police Chief Director-General Ronald M. dela Rosa was given the local name Moling, which means hard, solid and firm, owing to his ìunrelenting and uncompromising anti-drug campaign pursuant to the marching orders of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Tourism Undersecretary Falconi Millar was given the local name Farnagan, which refers to ìteam leader, builder and somebody who does not allow himself to slow downî as well as ìtake, stop and discover.
Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. said the adoption of sons of Mt. Province passed through a rigid process where the notable and dedicated individuals are chosen to be part of the family of the people living in the 10 municipalities.
Separate resolution of adoption were handed by provincial officials led by Lacwasan to recipients that will serve as a living memorabilia not for the present but also for the future generation of people from province.
Dela Rosa was clothed with the famous ìPinagpaganî, highly treasure woven cloth of the Mt. Province, ìTubayî or spear, ìKalasagî or shield and ìSuklongî or native head gear that are intended to protect him from the evil of society and guide him through the successful implementation of the government anti-criminality, anti-drug and peace keeping campaign for the attainment of the lasting of the country.
On the other hand, under Secretary Millar was also clothed with the ìPinagpaganî, ìSangiî or back pack made of bamboo and head gear to guide him through the successful implementation of the government tourism program to help promote Mt. Province as one the preferred destination not only on the Cordillera but also in the Northern Luzon.
The PNP chief express his sincerest gratitude to the people and official dome of Mt. Province for having chosen him as one of the adopted sons of the province and recognizing him as a member of the family where well known gallant warriors came from.
ìI am honored to be chosen as one of you. I assure that I will be frequenting the province as a show of respect to you for having given me the opportunity to be a Cordilleran like you,î Dela Rosa stressed.
He rallied the people and the official of Mt. Province to maintain the province drug-free status because getting rid of drugs is one of the major aspects in sustaining lasting peace in the coming years.
For his part, Millar expressed his gratitude to the people and official dome of Mt. Province for considering him as one of its adopted son and vowed to work double time to help promote the potential tourist destination in the different part of the province.
He recognizes there are numerous scenic spots around the province, that is why the tourism department is inclined to help promote the provinceís tourism industry through the agencyís various promotional activities.
Mt. Province remains to be one of the best sites for cultural tourism, he added.
Dela Rosa and Millar were the provinces guests during the celebration of its golden founding anniversary which was marked by a colorful civic-military parade along the main street of this capital town.
Lacwasan hailed dela Rosa and Millar for extending part of their precious time in visiting the province to celebrate with the people the realization of its miles stone and accept their adoption as sons of Mt. Province.
