CAGAYAN de Oro City—Mindanao, previously described as the country’s “land of promise,” continues to experience heavy flooding caused by the Tail end of the Cold Front.

This city’s City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has raised the alert to Code Yellow, with residents now in heightened alert, and resources are being mobilized for deployment.

In Bukidnon, Provincial Information Office staff Fredelyn Ragandang reported heavy flooding in eight barangays of Valencia City.

Ragandang posted in her FB account flooding in barangays Lumbo, Maapag, Catumbalon, San Isidro, and Poblacion.

The Department of Education-Bukidnon division has suspended classes in Impagsug-ong, Cabanglasan, Quezon, San Fernando and Pangantucan.

DepEd Region 10 director Allan Parnazo, in a text message, reported “localized suspension, except for Misamis Oriental.”

“What I mean is that all [levels in] Misamis Oriental have no classes,” Parnazo added.

Bukidnon Provincial Information Officer Hansell Echavez said reports of flooding were reported though they were still collating reports.

In Lanao del Sur, an emergency meeting was held last night to address affected areas of floods and landslides in Marawi City and some municipalities in Lanao del Sur.

The Provincial Administrator presided over the meeting with representatives from Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Health Office, Provincial Engineering Office, Accounting Office and Provincial Information Office.

Bubong, Ramain, Raraka, Kapai, Poona Bayabao, Masiu, Maguing and Balabagan towns were also under rampaging floodwaters.

Four dump trucks from the province have been on standby since 9:30 last night to assist the community.

PDRRMO chief Col. Tatar Boriongan reported an initial damage of  P10 million in agricultural and residential properties.

Gov. Bedjoria Soraya Alonto Adiong has ordered for a visual assessment of the affected areas.

“Four groups are now in the said areas to assess the damages brought by the LPA and tail-end of a cold front which has affected the province,” Jennie Tamano, Provincial Information officer said.

Tamano also said classes were suspended in all level in affected towns.
