Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announces the opening of the widened Radial Road 10 or R-10.
Motorists use the road as alternate route to EDSA via Bonifacio Drive and Roxas Boulevard in travelling from north to south and vice versa.
Villar says, “the opening of the additional two (2) lanes along between Pacheco Street to Zaragoza Street in Tondo will improve vehicular traffic.”
R10 is also an option for motorists traversing Monumento, Caloocan City heading to the airport and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
This area that passes through the old Smokey Mountain used to be congested with squatter colonies.
More than 2,100 squatter families in Manila and at least 818 squatter families in Navotas were relocated to pave the way for the road widening.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) plans to add complete the project with six concrete lanes along R-10’s northbound lane.
