Norbert Kiss claimed his second win of the 2017 FIA European Truck Racing Championship season driving his Tankpool24 Mercedes Benz. The Tankpool24 Racing driver, who took a convincing pole during qualifying, qualified second after struggling for grip in the Super Pole session.

Pole sitter Jochen Hahn didn’t manage to hold on to the lead as he went three abreast into Turn one with Kiss and Antonio Albacete alongside. It initially looked like Albacete would emerge as the leader following a storming start from the second row. But it was Kiss who dived down the inside and found himself in the best positon in to Turn 2. From then on the race was a one man show as the Hungarian controlled his pace and gradually increased his gap over the chasing pack.

Behind Kiss it was very close for most of the running with drivers in places two to five running very close to each other. Antonio Albacete in his Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN quickly settled for second and despite pressure from behind held on to his position to deliver yet another strong result of the weekend. Hahn, after being swallowed up by both Kiss and Albacete, then guarded third place in his Hahn Racing Iveco to score his second podium finish of the weekend.

Adam Lacko driving a Buggyra International Racing System-entered Freightliner came fourth, just behind Hahn. The Czech had lost ground immediately after the start and was running down in sixth behind Steffi Halm and his team-mate David Vrsecky.

Steffi Halm, ended up fifth this time out in her Reinert Racing MAN, with Lacko’s team-mate David Vrsecky, Sascha Lenz and Gerd Korber completing positions sixth to eight.

Ninth went to Promoter’s Cup winner Jose Rodrigues in his Reboconorte Racing MAN. The Portuguese ace bounced back with a win after suffering a dreadful day yesterday with a penalty for overspeeding costing him any chances of a good result in race one and a puncture buring his chances in race two.

Tenth and the final point went to Steffen Faas in the second of the Team Schawbentruck Ivecos. He also took second in the Promoter’s Cup.

Frankie Vojtisek completed the cup’ podium, finishing just outside the top ten overall in 11th.

It was a race to forget for the Promoter’s Cup contender Andre Kursim, who was under investigation for contacts with Sascha Lenz and Steffen Faas in two separate incidents during the opening stages of the race. Soon after this the Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz ran wide and through the gravel in turn six and came to the pits to retire.

In the Teams Championship it was a win for Team Tankpool 24 Racing from Truck Sport Lutz Bernau and Buggyra International Racing System. FIA Euro Truck Championship
