St. Luke's holds innovation contest

In today’s fast-paced society, advancements happen in the blink of an eye.

Modern improvements in systems and technology have enabled people to develop creative breakthroughs stemming from even the smallest of ideas. It is most inspiring to know that many of these novel concepts come from the youth.

This year, St. Luke’s Medical Center is inviting all third to fifth year college students nationwide to join its first Innovations Designed for Excellence and Advancement Student Innovation Awards.

St. Luke’s Medical Center pillars itself on social responsibility and innovation, and is committed to the discovery of unique concepts that will be of valuable service to the rest of the community.

Thus, the St. Luke’s Student Innovation Awards aims to recognize young, bright ideas, and to uncover new ways in delivering quality healthcare. This endeavor is also endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education, in accordance to the Higher Education Act of 1994, which ensures the advancement of learning and research.

Students are encouraged to submit their entries, either as individuals or as a group, with the theme, “A Safer, Sustainable, and Connected World.”

Entries can be any inventive, original development in medical or technological advancement geared towards creating healthcare solutions.

The winners will be chosen by a panel of subject matter specialists and selected experts through rigorous assessment on each submission’s novelty, robustness, impact, adaptability, and clarity. These students will be awarded in February 2019, and will receive cash and special prizes.

For the submission of entries, students must download the contest application form from the official website of St. Luke’s Medical Center, and submit a five-page project proposal, along with the YouTube link to a 60-second video presentation on or before Dec. 16.
