Vivo on Thursday released a new smartphone with a fascinating new feature ahead of the competition: In-display fingerprint scanning technology.
Unlike other fingerprint-scanning apps and devices, Vivo has built it right into the bottom of the screen and it integrates biometric authentication into the display itself. It unlocks the phone with a press from the user’s registered thumbprint without the need for a third-party security app that is sure to take up considerable storage.
Other than the new built-in finger scanner, the Vivo X21 offers upgraded facial recognition technology with “Face Access” which scans users’ facial features for an enhanced two-way security access.
Vivo’s new flagship is equipped with a 6.28-inch 19.9 AMOLED Display. With a super slim notch and 1.66mm side bezels, it achieves a 90.3% screen-to-body ratio for wider viewing. Armored with Gorilla Glass 3 that offers sufficient protection and durability from bumps and falls. It has a 12MP + 5MP dual camera setup at the rear, and a 12MP front camera equipped with fast-focusing technology and AI scene recognition features.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon SDM 660 AIE Octa-core processor powers the X21. It has 6GB of RAM, 128GB storage capacity, and 3200 mAh battery. It comes with the Funtouch OS 4.0, a mobile operating system based on Android 8.1
The Vivo X21 is available in the Philippines today Friday, June 22 at a retail price of P29,999.
