The Bureau of Customs seized hundreds of fake branded shoes and other commodities worth P521.93 million in a warehouse along Cuneta Avenue, Pasay City.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service and Enforcement and Security Service uncovered fake goods stored inside the 10 units of Warehouse 142 at Cuneta Avenue, Pasay City, customs commissioner Isidro Lapeña said.

Found inside the warehouses were big boxes of  fake branded  apparel  such as Lee, Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, and Vans, including fake fitflop, and crocs sandals. Other items seized were non-branded watches and comfort shoes without the required import permit.

Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Group Ricardo Quinto said they received information from a concerned citizen that fake products are stored in a warehouse in Pasay City.

A certain Lita Liao who is said to be the warehouse administrator claimed the units were leased by certain Mr. Ang, Mr. Gee, and Mr. Ty—not their real names. No one was arrested because the unit owners were not on the premises when the raid was conducted.

The seized goods reportedly came from China.

"The raid was part of BOC’s continued operations against all forms of smuggling of counterfeit goods to protect the consumers and the legitimate business community in general," Lapeña added.
