QC development council OKs 43 priority projects for 4 years

THE Quezon City Development Council, headed by Mayor Herbert Bautista, has approved 43 priority projects to be rolled out from 2017 to 2020.

He identified some of projects under the comprehensive development program and local development investment program as the formulation of a drainage master plan in coordination with other local governments, updating of disaster risk reduction management plan, drug rehabilitation facility development program, development of low-cost mass housing projects for low-income earners, educational support program, replacement of existing old and undersized drainage pipes and road network development program, among others.

The council was created to encourage the participation of sectors in the development of the city as part of its efforts in participatory governance.

Meanwhile, the city government, through the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, joined the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill yesterday at 2 p.m.

The city's DRRMO simulated mass evacuation of city hall’s buildings, including its 15-story high-rise structure; fire suppression, high-angle rescue, collapsed structure search and rescue, evacuation camp management and management of the dead.
