Two mining companies operating in the Philippines received accolades during the 17th Asean Senior Officials Meeting on Minerals held at the M Gallery Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on Tuesday.
Rio Tuba, a nickel mining operation in Bataraza, Palawan operated by Nickel Asia, gained the Asean Mineral Award for Mining while the OceanaGold’s Didipio Gold-Copper mine, operating between Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya provinces, grabbed the Asean Mineral Award for Processing.
Nickel Asia’s Jose Anievas, chief operating officer, and OceanaGold’s Jose Leviste Jr, Chairman of the Board, were present to receive the awards.
Other OceanaGold officials present in the awards were Didipio operations manager David Way, senior metallurgist Hilbert Cardenas and community relations manager Nericel Langres.
