The Caloocan City government has assisted more than 100 families affected by the construction of NLEX-SLEX Connector Skyway in the city and transferred them to their new homes.

According to the Urban Poor Affairs Office, 25 families from Barangay 56 were moved out on Oct. 5, followed by 36 in Oct. 11 and 60 more from Barangay 49 last Oct. 12.

Most of the affected families were transferred to their new homes in a National Housing Authority relocation site in Norzagaray, Bulacan, while the rest were taken to a condo-type relocation project of the city government.

According to Mayor Oscar Malapitan, the relocated families went through several briefings and processes. The national government also aided their transfer to their new homes, he added.

The P23.3-billion NLEX -SLEX Connector Skyway is an eight-kilometer, four-lane project of the Department of Public Works and Highways that will connect the two expressways to shorten travel time going to the north of Metro Manila coming from the south. The project is expected to be completed by 2020.
