Navotas fetes elders in weeklong salute

Navotas has crowned Cristina Gomez, 70, the fairest among all elderly Navoteñas as it ended its celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week on Oct. 6.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco, together with Vice Mayor Clint Geronimo, Federation of Senior Citizens Association of Navotas, Inc. president Lucy Batto and Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs chairman Linda Ramirez, donned the “Gandang Lola 2017” crown to Gomez of Barangay San Jose.

San Jose. Angelita Riello, 67, from Brgy. San Roque was named the 1st runner up; Corina Abello, 66, from Brgy. Bagumbayan South as 2nd runner up; and Esterlina Jardio, 67, from Brgy. North Bay Boulevard South as 3rd runner up. They also participated in a parade and opening program on Oct. 2; Gandang Lola Talent Presentation and Dalaw Kalinga on Oct. 3; Talakayan on Oct. 4; and Kwento ni Lolo, Kwento ni Lola storytelling contest on Oct. 5. Josef Feliciano, 71, president of OSCA Phase 2 Area 1, Brgy. NBBS was also recognized as one of the 2017 Sampung Ulirang Nakatatanda Awardees by the Coalition of Services for the Elderly. Angelita Riello, 67, from Barangay San Roque was first runner up. Corina Abello, 66, from Barangay Bagumbayan South, and Esterlina Jardio, 67, of North Bay Boulevard South came in second and third, respectively.

Josef Feliciano, 71, president of OSCA Phase 2 Area 1, Brgy. NBBS was also recognized as one of the 2017 Sampung Ulirang Nakatatanda Awardees by the Coalition of Services for the Elderly.
