Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista has ordered the city health department to conduct water sampling analysis in all public and private swimming pools in the city to determine the quality of the water in these facilities.

Mayor Bautista described the move as necessary to ensure public health and safety.

“With more people expected to spend their summer vacation in swimming pools and other bathing places, it is but imperative that we take extra precautionary measures to prevent the transmission of diseases that maybe contracted from contaminated pool water,” Bautista said.

As provided under the Sanitation Code, the city health department may recommend the revocation of the sanitary permits issued to them when it is deemed necessary for the protection of public health.

The business permits and licensing office was instructed to closely coordinate with the city health department.
